Tetrachloroethylene, also known as perchloroethylene, is an organic compound with the formula C2Cl4 and is a colorless liquid.

On October 27, 2017, the list of carcinogens published by the World Health Organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer was preliminarily collated for reference, and tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene) was in the list of class 2A carcinogens. On July 23, 2019, tetrachloroethylene (perchloroethylene) was included in the List of Toxic and harmful water pollutants (the first batch).

APPLICATION

 

1. Used as organic solvent, dry cleaning agent, oil extractant, smoke agent, desulfurizer and fabric finishing agent, etc
2. Tetrachloroethylene is widely used, mainly as an organic solvent, dry cleaning agent, metal degreasing solvent, and also as an insect repellent. Tetrachloroethylene can be used as fat extractant, fire extinguishing agent and smoke screen agent, etc., and can also be used to synthesize trichloroethylene and fluorinated organic compounds.
